The Chinese government on Thursday called on Washington to lift tech export restrictions after California-based chip designer Nvidia's new production could be delayeD.
US officials say they need to limit the spread of technology that could be used to make weapons.
Nvidia said last week that it would need a license from the US government to export any products with performance better than its A100 graphic chips to China, Hong Kong or Russia.
The U.S. government was granting some exemptions by authorizing some chip exports that would allow Nvidia to continue supplying them to American consumers until March.
High-end chips are designed to help power data centers and run artificial intelligence applications.
Nvidia's better-known products used in video games and automotive technology are not affected by the restrictions.
